Very interesting history. The storm of 1952, February 28th was one day before I was born on February 29th, in Halifax. My aunt Mona (Elliott) Buckman from Central Grove was in Bedford that week helping my father Donald E. Elliott with the other children while my mother gave birth. Now it makes me wonder how she got home to the island when the wharves were destroyed. Just to travel that distance in winter was formidable.

Thank you for your comment. I have finished a blog on the 1930 storm at Tiverton and I am planning on a blog for the “Big Storm of 1952”. It is on my to-do-list.
