Jan. 30th 1925- Jan. 28th 2021

A good friend passed in January, after a full life. He came to our Island to practise as our Doctor from June 1951 till July 1956. We kept in contact over the years and he wrote a book called “The Island Doctor” . He came to the Islands to launch his book, so Leta and I researched to find the names of 57 babies that he had delivered. He got to meet some of these now adults after all these years. Dr. MacDonald and I were planning on writing another book about the Islands.

Independent Publisher Book Awards 2010

In May 2010 Leta and I received an email from our good friend Dr. J. Cameron MacDonald letting us know that he had been awarded a gold metal for his book “The Island Doctor”. Dr. MacDonald was presented with this gold metal in recognition of excellence in independent publishing in the category for Best Regional Non-Fiction. The May 25th, 14th Annual Awards Ceremony took place in New York, where Dr. MacDonald accepted his metal with his wife, Katie, at his side.

Anyone who has read this book would agree that the award is well deserved and our congratulations go out to Dr. MacDonald for his accomplishment.

I made this Slideshow for Dr. MacDonald a few years back. It is a slideshow of his and Katie’s life here on Long Island 1951-1957. I thought maybe you would enjoy it too.
